Vintage 2013 – around Australia's wine regions
Your quick link guide to vintage reports
2013 was a varied but overall good vintage in Australia's wine regions. In South Australia vintage was earlier than expected, the Mornington Peninsula had fantastic ripening weather but in New England, the region experienced a challenging season.
Some regions reported lower quantities than 2012, compensated by excellent fruit quality, whilst others are reporting subtle changes in fruit character.
In New England, grape growers had to contend with everything from rain and hail, storm and tempest followed by hot weather which saw some winemakers choose not to harvest this year.
In Tasmania vintage finished late, with both reds and whites still on the vines well into May some areas.
