Margaret River icon Voyager Estate will be sharing all aspects of making wine and appreciating it with their Wine Essentials Day. It's an immersive and interactive day full of grapes, wine, food and winemaking.

Where better to learn about wine than at a Margaret River winery? Go behind the scenes at Voyager Estate to learn all aspects of winemaking, from vine to wine, on this fun and interactive one-day wine experience.

Start your day with a walk through the vineyards as you learn about the different characteristics of grape varietals, grape growing and seasonal influence.

After morning tea (walking around vineyards is hungry work after all), you'll move into the private tasting room to learn more about tasting wine.  The language of wine can seem quite complex. Sometimes it’s as if winemakers and sommeliers are talking another language. In this session you’ll learn some of the techniques of wine tasting in an interactive and fun way.

You'll discover your ideal wine, using a three step approach of appearance, aroma, and taste. You’ll gain an understanding of key wine descriptors and learn to identify the main characteristics of wine, especially in Margaret River varieties such as chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc and semillon.

It's then time to take your new tasting skills and apply them to food, with the basics of food and wine matching.

By now it must be lunch time, so your table is reserved in the restaurant for the 4-course wine-matched Margaret River Discovery. This menu showcases the best of Margaret River produce, matched to the key regional varietals.

No day is complete without a look at the winemaking, so after lunch, you're off to the winery with exclusive access to the technical staff, a barrel tasting and a look at Voyager Estate's winemaking techniques and philosophies.

The day is limited to six participants and is available any day of the week with at least 2 days’ prior notice. Come dressed comfortably with closed shoes and importantly, bring your curiosity and thirst for wine knowledge.
