The collection contains a rich and diverse range of responses to fire from a number of award winning writers and poets.

Some refer to contemporary events and are often realistic; others use legend, history and memory in their work.  Playwright David Milroy’s commissioned story, ‘Walardu and Karla’, set in the Kimberley, draws on an Aboriginal legend of Karla, the fire that ‘had burned for more than twenty years.’

WA Premier award winning Poet Miriam Wei Wei Lo's commisioned poem explores several ways in which fire informs people’s lives, both literally and symbolically, across different cultural contexts and times.

We have also been able to use extracts from oral histories recorded by the Margaret River and Districts Historical Society and the Margaret River Community Resource Centre with victims of the Margaret River fires of late 2011.

Pre-release offer 10% discount and free postage.  Offer ends, Friday February 15th.  Books will be posted after February 10th.
