‘The perfect day out in Melbourne, like any ordinary day out in Melbourne, necessarily involves coffee, sandwiches, beer, a bike ride and maybe a tram trip.’

Melbourne is an eclectic city full of top-quality restaurants, stylish shops and graffiti laneways hiding doors to cocktail bars, galleries and the hippest boutiques. This new and revised edition of Melbourne Precincts will help you navigate your way through the world’s most liveable city.

Melbourne is a collection of villages that can be divided into 20 distinct precincts. Each of these have their own unique character featuring local businesses stocking local makers, using local produce and supporting their local community, which is a central part of being a Melburnian.

From slightly grungy Balaclava and Elwood in the south to musically rich Northcote and Thornbury in the north; quiet and leafy Hawthorn in the east to cute-as-a-button Yarraville and Seddon in the west, Melbourne has something for everyone.

Dale Campisi’s stylish guide to Melbourne picks out the very best of the vibrant city’s shopping, eating and drinking experiences for locals and tourists alike.

Create your own perfect day out in Melbourne and discover some new places that are guaranteed to have you coming back for more.

Melbourne Precincts is part of the award-winning Precincts series. Other books in the series include London Precincts, Sydney Precincts, Tokyo Precincts, Paris Precincts and Hong Kong Precincts.

About the Author
For the last 15 years or so Dale Campisi has made it his business to get to know Melbourne. At first it was just to find the right bar, cafe or restaurant for this or that occasion, but the city got under his skin. Dale got his first look into this colourful city during his Australian history studies at university, and went on to uncover some its lesser-known stories as publisher of Arcade Publications’ little books.

For a time Dale worked at the Public Record Office, and lead regular tours for Melbourne Central shopping mall and Hidden Secrets Tours.

Over the years, Dale has written a number of travel guides to Victoria and Tasmania, including Melbourne: A City of Villages and Hide & Seek Hobart. Dale does all his exploring with his partner Brady Michaels, whose photography is included in this book. Together Dale and Brady are ‘the Gents’ and you can follow their adventures at thegentsguide.com
