Beers of their Environment, Little Rivers Brewing

Scottsdale is a small town in the the state's north east, surrounded by world-class Tasmanian wine, golf courses and mountain bike tracks. It's also home to Little Rivers Brewing Company, the brainchild of a former winemaker turned brewer.

Chris Carins spent over seven years gaining experience in winemaking at the nearby Pipers Brook Winery before working at Queensland's Burleigh Brewing for two years.

When he and partner Jess Coniston returned to Tasmania, they chose Scottsdale as the site for their craft brewery and cellar door. With neighbours including acclaimed cool climate wines the likes of Jansz, Pipers Brook, Arras and Bay of Fires and the internationally recognised Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm golf courses plus the new and exciting Blue Derby Mountain Bike Track, it seemed the perfect location to provide locals and visitors alike with hand-crafted premium beers.

And it worked well - just six months into establishing Little Rivers, demand required a new brewing system and building extension!

Using local and specialist ingredients from around the world, easy-drinking and approachable premium beers are handcrafted then sent to bars around Tasmania, even making their way to the CBD bars of Melbourne and Sydney. They're also available direct from the brewhouse in Scottsdale which is well worth a visit.

The core range of beers from Little Rivers is complemented by seasonal and specialty brews.

Here are tasting notes for the core range:
