Overall, South Australia was awarded three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

  • The Playford (luxury accommodation).

Held at the Darwin Convention Centre, the awards celebrated the success of our tourism operators in front of national industry representatives.

South Australian Minister for Tourism, Leon Bignell, said "These results are testament to the high standard of our tourism operators here in South Australia and I congratulate medal winners and finalists."

It caps off a fantastic year in tourism which included Lonely Planet naming South Australia as one of the world’s top 10 regions to visit in 2017, new direct flights from China with China Southern Airways and from around the globe with the luxury airline Qatar and a record cruise ship season."

He went on "South Australia is home to some of the country’s best produce and Adelaide is one of the world’s Great Wine Capitals, so we’re thrilled our reputation has been further enhanced by these awards and ahead of our first annual Tasting Australia festival.

Mr Bignell stated that "Tourism is now worth $6.2 billion to the South Australian economy. Every tourism operator in the State is helping us grow this even further by offering world-class experiences visitors have come to expect. The State Government has invested an extra $70 million to market our State across Australia and internationally, as well as attracting major events and conferences."
