Angullong wines have released the latest vintage of two of its most popular white wines, the 2017 Angullong Sauvignon Blanc ($20) and 2017 Angullong Pinot Grigio ($20).

Since 1998, when the vineyard was established, Angullong has built a reputation of producing flavoursome, cool climate wines across a range of varieties. The Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio showcase the region’s cool climate beautifully; crisp acidity with an abundance of fresh flavours being the region’s hallmarks.

“Sauvignon Blanc continues to be a consumer favourite,” said Angullong’s Ben Crossing. “It is one of our best sellers with many customers looking for an Australian alternative to the waves of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that are pounding our shores.”

“The vineyard sits at an elevation of over 600 metres, ensuring that we have a balance of cool nights and warm days, with ample sunshine to ripen the fruit with the region’s trademark natural acidity.

“The lead up to the growing season was extremely wet. This ensured good moisture levels in the vineyard, however it presented some challenges. In fact, we were unable to use tractors in the lower sections of the vineyard until November due to the risk of getting bogged.

“As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, so we modified the ‘Terex Posi-track’ skid steer to operate the slasher and so were able to keep on top of things. The vineyards eventually dried out allowing normal access.”

2017 vintage was one of the longest on record at Angullong. With cooler than average temperatures through spring and early summer, vine growth and bunch development were delayed. Harvest was subsequently later, working out well for the aromatic white varieties as they ripened consistently during autumn, which is characteristic of the Orange region.

Angullong’s winemaker, Jon Reynolds commented, “The fruit was perfect, offering excellent intensity with passion fruit and tropical fruit held together by outstanding structure and zesty acidity.”

Distribution: The Angullong range of wines are distributed by L’ Atelier Wines in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, and WA. The Angullong range can be purchased directly from the Cellar Door in Millthorpe and via their website at
