The Frog Rock Vineyards are situated 5kms out of Mudgee Town on the Cassislis Rd. The age of the vines range from between 4 years to over 38 years old.

The philosophy used in the vineyards is to retain the primary fruit by using as little intervention in our vineyards as possible. We minimise our irrigation and spraying of chemicals to allow for the true fruit characters to translate into the wine. By using very little irrigation we encourage the vines to reach down into the rich and deep alluvial clay soils. The top block, our youngest plantings sits on some of Mudgee's most sought after soils. Our grape varieties are planted according to which soil type, irrigation method and canopy management are required for maximum quality and varietal fruit flavour.

Mudgee is potentially becoming one of Australia's principal premium viticultural areas. The ancient soils are famous for their rich red and yellow sandy loams over clay underbase, this coupled with consistent sunlight hours and rainfall provide the perfect growing environment for premium quality fruit. The hot days and cool nights ensure the elegant structure and perfect harmony between acidity and sugar in the fruit.

The micro climate of our vineyards is warm days (max average temperature 30°c) and cool nights (min average temperature 1°c), with a moderate annual rainfall of 650mm. The elevation is 470m above sea level. Spring and Autumn are characterized by moderate daytime temperatures and cool nights.

The history of our property dates back to 1823. The land that is now our cellar door and vineyard, known as Lawson Farm, was granted to the famous explorer and grazier William Lawson, who originally explored the land from the Blue Mountains to the Mudgee Region. The original vineyard was planted on the higher slopes of our property in 1969, since then Frog Rock Vineyards have been feeding the appetites of some of Australia's largest wine producers.
